Conoco Makes Contribution to Disaster Relief

Conoco will contribute $1 million in individual and corporate pledges as an expression of its employees' heartfelt sorrow and tremendous concern for those affected by last week's terrorist attacks. The funds will be directed to assist families of fallen firefighters, police officers and Department of Defense personnel.

According to Archie W. Dunham, Conoco's chairman and chief executive officer, the corporation will contribute $500,000 to help meet immediate needs of families of the emergency responders and Department of Defense victims, and will match donations from employees, retirees and other associates, guaranteeing a total of an additional $500,000.

"Like the rest of America, our employees watched last week's horrors unfold on their television screens and asked what our company could do to help," said Dunham. "While we know that monetary donations cannot bring back the lives of lost loved ones or lessen the tremendous grief their families are feeling today, we hope we can contribute to starting the healing process. Our thoughts and prayers remain with those who are grieving."
