Norway Gives Green Light to Hydro for Stetind Exploration

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has granted Norsk Hydro Produksjon AS consent for exploration drilling of well 6605/8-1, Stetind, production license 283. The activity will be carried out with the semisub, Transocean Leader, which is operated by Transocean.

The start-up date for drilling depends on preceding activities, including the duration of the rig's exploration drilling for Shell.

Transocean has applied for an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) for the Transocean Leader. The application is being processed by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway.

The licensees in production license 283 are Hydro, ChevronTexaco, ConocoPhillips and Petoro.

The well is a deep-water exploration well in an area west of Sandnessjøen, which will be the supply base.

Transport of personnel to and from the rig will be carried out by Norsk Helikopter AS from Brønnøysund.
