CB&I Wins China PDH Unit Contract
Propane dehydrogenation unit will boast 600,000 metric tons per year of propylene production capacity.

Xuzhou HaiDing Chemical Technology Co. Ltd. has awarded CB&I a contract for the license and engineering design of a grassroots propane dehydrogenation unit, CB&I announced Monday.

The PDH unit, which will be built in Pizhou, Jinangsu Province, China, will use CB&I’s CATOFIN catalytic dehydrogenation technology and Clariant’s tailor-made, non-mobile CATOFIN catalyst to produce 600,000 metric tons per year of propylene, CB&I said in a written statement

“We look forward to furthering our technology footprint in China by licensing CATOFIN to Xuzhou HaiDing Chemical Technology’s fast-track project,” stated Daniel M. McCarthy, CB&I’s Executive Vice President of Technology. “CATOFIN has unmatched operational reliability and continually surpasses nameplate capacities. Its optimized operational conditions delivers the highest conversion and selectivity to the customer, resulting in both the lowest capital and operational expenditure for the project.”
