Most Admired Explorer Revealed
Who has secured the title of most admired explorer?

Eni has secured the title of most admired oil and gas explorer in a new report released by Wood Mackenzie.

The Italian energy company placed above Anadarko, Kosmos Energy, ExxonMobil, Lundin Petroleum, Tullow Oil, Shell, Statoil, Cairn and BP.

In addition to outlining the most admired companies in the exploration world, the report revealed that companies are expected to continue exploring low-cost opportunities this year. National oil companies are forecasted to put more emphasis on growth and higher exploration impact.

Woodmac’s report surveyed 200 senior exploration leaders and professionals to get a clearer picture of exploration as signs of a recovery emerge.

Quite surprising what Explorer stands for? Eni is mostly a safe zone player - a successful business strategy.

I would have to disagree. I believe history would bear me out. My vote would be for Gulf Oil. Their Gulfrex Program fostered not only one of the most innovative exploration ships at the time but had the first real time multi-trace stacking program on board while acquiring the data. Bill French who worked for Gulf at the time was probably the prime motivator for development of 3-D acquisition and processing. In addition they developed a depth conversion program using seismic data that was superior to many claimed capabilities at the time, from contractors and large oil. I personally had familiarity with many companies in my career including contractors and multi-national oil companies and by my ranking Gulf stood a head above all the others.
