Gas Leak at Gjoa

A gas leak occurred late Wednesday at the ENGIE E&P operated Gjøa field, located in the North Sea, according to a company statement.

The situation quickly came under control, however, and no injuries were reported.

“The gas leak has been stopped and the situation on board the Gjøa platform is under normalisation. Production is currently shut down,” an ENGIE representative said in a company release.

The installation had 49 people on board when the incident occurred. Nineteen people were demobilised by helicopter and brought to a support center in Florø.
