SNP MP: Scottish Oil Sector Growing, People Returning to Work
Scotland’s oil and gas sector is emerging from the downturn, businesses are growing in confidence and people are getting back into work after a tough couple of years, according to SNP energy spokesperson Callum McCaig.
“While the Tories have shamefully revealed that they think the North Sea industry is a low priority in Brexit negotiations, the SNP will always put Scottish jobs first,” McCaig said in a statement sent to Rigzone.
“The Tory manifesto set out their plans to oversee the managed decline of oil and gas, while the SNP manifesto is a prospectus to help the industry thrive over the years ahead,” he added.
McCaig said that if the SNP wins the election in Scotland it will demand a better deal for oil and gas, including targeted incentives for small pool discoveries, loan guarantees for critical infrastructure, more support for exploration and incentives for oil and gas firms to diversify into renewables.
