Culzean Contract to Support up to 150 Aberdeen Jobs for Semco Maritime
Semco Maritime has been chosen by Maersk Oil UK to participate in the installation and preparation (hook-up) of the Culzean field, in a development which will support up to 150 jobs in Aberdeen.
The contract, which is the largest ever for Semco Maritime’s Aberdeen office, will see employees be responsible for carrying out electrical work, while the piping and painting work will be carried out by two other companies.
“We are very pleased that Maersk Oil UK has chosen us for this project, which marks a breakthrough for us in the UK,” Semco Maritime Vice President Carsten Nielsen said in a company statement.
“The Culzean order is a very interesting and challenging project that sets the highest expectations and demands for safety and quality on time, and we will do everything we can to live up to this,” he added.
Production from the Culzean natural gas field is expected to commence in 2019. The field is expected to cover five percent of the gas demand in the UK in 2020/21.
