Statoil Receives Consent to Drill Well in Barents Sea

Statoil ASA has received consent to drill an exploration well in block 7219 in the Barents Sea, Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has announced.

The operator of production license 532, Statoil is intending to drill exploration well 7219/9-2 in a prospect named Kayak. The drilling site is around 90 miles north-west of Goliat, with water depth at the site reaching 1,102 feet.

Drilling is scheduled to begin in April 2017 and will last for 27 days. The well will be drilled using the Songa Enabler (mid-water semisub).
