Bilfinger has agreed a new 5-year contract with BP plc to provide maintenance services at 2 of its largest midstream oil and gas terminals in Scotland, securing 210 jobs.
Engineering services provider Bilfinger has agreed a new five-year contract with BP plc to provide maintenance services at two of its largest midstream oil and gas terminals in Scotland, securing 210 jobs in the process.
The multi-service deal replaces a previous agreement from 2015, which covers BP’s Forties Pipeline System Terminals in Grangemouth and the Sullom Voe Terminal in Shetland.
The contract will see Bilfinger support jobs in a number of specialties, including scaffolding, blasting & painting, asbestos management and fire proofing, a Bilfinger spokesperson told Rigzone.
The new agreement comes as Bilfinger announces its 2020 strategy, which will see Bilfinger Industrial Services and electrical engineering division Bilfinger Industrial Automation Services (BIAS) brought together as one business unit from 2018.
Along with offshore maintenance arm, Bilfinger Salamis, the UK businesses now form part of the Northwest Europe Region, which focuses on delivering Maintenance, Modification and Operations (MMO) services to the oil and gas, petrochemical and chemical industries.
“The midstream contract is key to our operations in the UK and the five-year extension is testament to the work we’ve delivered across these assets for BP since the partnership began in 2010,” Duncan Hall, executive president of Northwest Europe Region at Bilfinger, said in a company statement.
Earlier this month, Bilfinger Salamis UK announced that it had secured a multimillion dollar contract with Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij B.V (NAM) and Shell UK, which will create over 30 jobs. This news followed a separate announcement in January, which revealed that the company would secure 150 positions following a service contract extension.
