The 95-foot OHC provided sealing in the open hole to isolate water-bearing fractures in a fractured carbonate reservoir. Enventure’s OHC seals directly against the formation and eliminates the need to tie back into the base casing. PDO and Enventure have been at the forefront in developing a reliable and economical method for zonal isolation and shut-off in complex carbonate reservoirs in Oman.
“This technology has now been applied in over 30 wells in Oman and the results have clearly shown a sustained reduction in water production,” said Saif Al Hinai, Oil Director Northern Assets. “We are very proud to be involved with the continued success of this technology and in this milestone in Enventure’s history.”
PDO’s use of SET technology is not limited to zonal isolation. Constructing wells with solid expandable tubulars used as planned element or as contingency options allows PDO to slim down the casing design and still maintain optimum hole size through the reservoir. Using this technology in the initial well design capitalizes on the value it adds to the project.
“PDO exemplifies how operating companies apply this enabling technology to address reservoir management challenges, optimize completion designs, and reduce overall expenditure,” said Robert Hinkel, president and chief executive officer of Enventure. “Completing our 250th SET application is an impressive achievement for us and illustrates just how reliable and acceptable this technology is worldwide.”
To date, Enventure has performed 254 installations and expanded 262,455 feet of pipe for 60 operators globally. Enventure Global Technology, L.L.C. is the world's leading provider of solid expandable tubular solutions and holds or has pending over 300 patents for its proprietary systems.
