Kraken 2Q Start-up 'On Track'

EnQuest plc revealed Friday that the Kraken development is progressing and the delivery of first oil in the second quarter of this year is on track.

The Kraken Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel arrived at the field Feb. 13, and the hook up of the Submerged Turret Production (STP) buoy mooring system was completed Feb. 15. A full rotation test was also performed and the vessel is now on station and securely moored.

Commissioning work will continue on the topsides, EnQuest said, and reconstruction of the turret area pipework and connection of the risers and umbilicals to the swivel stack will also be undertaken, followed by commissioning of the subsea infrastructure.

Kraken is one of the largest current development projects in the UK North Sea, according to EnQuest, with an anticipated production life of up to 25 years.
