Total UK Production Increases 2.1% on Growing Oil, Gas Output

The monthly estimate of total UK production increased by 2.1 percent in November 2016, mainly due to an increase in oil and gas output, according to figures released Wednesday from the Office for National Statistics.

This surge occurred, in part, because of the restart of the Buzzard oil field following a prolonged shutdown period. Crude petroleum and natural gas output grew 1.6 percent in November 2016, compared to November 2015.

The Buzzard oil field, which is located in the central North Sea, came on-stream in early 2007 and pumps about 180,000 barrels per day.
