Hurricane Energy Confirms Halifax Prospect Well
UK-based oil and gas company Hurricane Energy confirmed Monday that it will drill the offshore UK Halifax prospect after the completion of the Lincoln well.
The company revealed that it had exercised its option to use the Transocean Spitsbergen (UDW semisub) drilling rig to spud the Halifax prospect, which is situated in blocks 205/22b, 205/23 and 205/24. A previous well (205/23-2) drilled on the Halifax structure encountered oil and gas shows in sandstones immediately above the basement, according to Hurricane’s website.
The Lincoln prospect is located in block 205/26b. The asset has unrisked P50 prospective resources of 150 million barrels of oil, Hurricane states.
