IRNA: NIOC Helicopter Crashes in Caspian Sea

A helicopter working for the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) crashed in the Caspian Sea early Sunday, killing all five passengers on-board, according to Iran’s Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

The crash was caused by a technical failure while the helicopter was on a mission to carry an injured person from the Amir Kabir oil platform, Behshahr Governor Khaleq Sajjadi told IRNA.

NIOC was not immediately available for comment.

Following the crash, Iran’s Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh expressed condolences to the families of the five victims, according to IRNA.
