New Polish Commercial Gas Discovery Would Have Minimal Employment Impact

Although a new commercial gas discovery would be likely to attract more foreign exploration and production investment in Poland, its impact in terms of industry employment would be minimal, Prospex Oil & Gas plc CEO Ed Dawson told Rigzone.

“A material gas discovery could attract more foreign E&P investment to Poland [but] it would rather have limited impact in terms of job creation for the industry,” said Dawson.

The Prospex CEO told Rigzone that drilling activity and production development would benefit local communities, creating business and job opportunities for local vendors and additional tax contribution through gas production.

Approximately 30 to 40 onshore wells are being drilled in Poland every year, with most contracted by Poland’s national oil companies. Prospex Oil & Gas plc is a London-based, independent energy company operating in Poland.
