Keppel FELS Delivers Floatel Triumph, Upcoming Work at Wheatstone Field
Singapore's Keppel Corp. Ltd. disclosed Thursday that Keppel FELS Ltd., a unit of its wholly owned subsidiary Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd. (Keppel O&M), has delivered Floatel Triumph, a fifth high-specification accommodation semisubmersible, to Floatel International Ltd.
Floatel Triumph -- built to Keppel's proprietary SSAUTM5000NG design -- will be deployed to work at Chevron Corp.'s Wheatstone field offshore Western Australia in mid-October. The semisub will work for INPEX Operations Australia in Ichthys field, offshore Western Australia after completing its assignment with Chevron.
"Despite the low oil price environment, Floatel was able to secure charters for Floatel Triumph and this is a strong indication of the market's preference for the reliable and superior performance that Keppel-designed rigs bring, in addition to the operational excellence of Floatel," Chris Ong, managing director of Keppel FELS, said in the press release.
Floatel Triump -- designed to meet the stringent UK HSE (health, safety and the environment) requirements in the UK sector of the North Sea, as well as the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil and Western Australia -- is equipped with state-of-the-art accommodatifon and recreational facilities to provide increased comfort for its 500-person crew.
