MacGregor, an engineering solutions and services provider and part of FInland's Cargotec, announced Monday that it has secured comprehensive equipment package contracts for 7 specialist support vessels that will operate in the Middle East .
The firm will deliver deck cranes and a range of deck machinery to each vessel in the first quarter of 2017. These include the supply of a deck crane and deck machinery as well as shark-jaws and towing pins to two 190 foot (58 meter) anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels. Other equipment to be delivered include deck machinery and a deck crane to one 148 foot (45 meter) work utility vessel as well as a deck crane and deck machinery to four 148 foot (45 meter) maintenance utility vessels.
"MacGregor (will) worked closely with the owner early in the process to discuss technicalities ... This early involvement optimizes design decisions, which can positively influence the profitability, safety, reliability and environmental sustainability of operations throughout a vessel's working life," Esko Karvonen, head of Smart Ocean Technology division, MacGregor said in the press release.
The vessels, being built in China for a Middle East marine logistics services, are scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2017 and will support the operations of a Middle Eastern national oil company in the Arabian Gulf under a firmed 5-year charter with a 2-year extension option.
