CNOOC Commences Oil Production at Weizhou 6-9/6-10 Project in Beibu Gulf

China's CNOOC Ltd. commenced oil production from the Weizhou 6-9/6-10 comprehensive adjustment project in the Beibu Gulf in South China Sea, the company said Monday.

The Chinese firm currently produces around 850 barrels of per day (bopd) of crude oil from the Weizhou 6-9/6-10 development, which lies in water depth of approximately 115 feet (35 meters). It fully utilizes existing facilities at the field as well as the addition of one wellhead platform for this adjustment project, with a targeted ODP (overall development plan) designed peak production of approximately 3,800 bopd of crude oil in 2018.

CNOOC holds a 100 percent operating interest in the Weizhou 6-9/6-10 project.
