Statoil announced Friday that the Njord A platform has now arrived at Kvaerner Stord, where it will be reinforced and renovated for production beyond 2030.
Oil and gas production on the Njord field should have ceased a long time ago, according to Statoil, as it was initially scheduled for production until 2013.
“We have been able to recover more of the reserves than originally expected, and following new discoveries and the Snilehorn development, field production will continue for at least ten more years,” said Snorre Grande, Statoil’s project director for the Njord Future project.
“This is a big and important project and Statoil is working closely with the partners and suppliers to succeed,” Grande added.
As part of renovation works on Njord, the platform’s hull will be reinforced and extensive work will also be carried out on board the platform.
