India's TERI, Australia's UNSW to Boost Gas Yields at ONGC-Operated Wells
The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in India and Australia's University of New South Wales (UNSW) forged a partnership to boost gas yields from coal seam wells operated by the country's state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. (ONGC), local media The Economic Times reported Monday.
The UNSW, which made a research breakthrough in increasing gas yields from coal seams manifold, will partner TERI to develop industrial application of the phenomenon in ONGC-operated coal seams gas wells.
"A novel Australian research breakthrough that promises to dramatically increase gas yields from coal seams and biogas plants will be trialled for industrial application for the first time in partnership with ONGC," UNSW said, as quoted in the Economic Times.
The breakthrough could extend the life of coal seam gas wells as well as greatly boost gas yields from bio-digesters that use carbon neutral organic waste to generate methane for electricity production.
