PPL Finds Hydrocarbons at Hadi X-1A Well in Pakistan's Gambat South Block

Pakistan Petroleum Ltd. (PPL) reported Friday that it has discovered hydrocarbons at Hadi X-1A exploration well in the Gambat South Block in Sanghar district in Pakistan's Sindh province.

PPL, the operator of Gambat South Block, drilled the Hadi X-1A prospect to test the hydrocarbon potential of sands of Lower Goru/Sembar Formations. Gas flowed from the well at an average of 0.85 million standard cubic feet per day at 32/64 inch choke while testing was conducted at the well.

"Preliminary analyses of the test data suggest the discovery to be tight gas," PPL said in the press release.

The operator, which holds 65 percent stake in the block, said futher evaluation is required to determine the size and commerciality of the discovery. Other partners in the Gambat South Block are Government Holdings Pte Ltd. (25 percent) and Asia Resources Oil Ltd. (10 percent).
