Statoil to Launch Training Tool for 50th Anniversary

Statoil has decided to launch a historical fact-based research project for its 50th anniversary in 2022, which will form a professional training tool for coming generations.

The project aims to acquire new knowledge about Statoil, and the company’s significance to society over the last 50 years, and convey it to the public. The end product will be shared in two volumes and a comprehensive website that will be integrated with the released books which will provide further images, films and sound.

“We have high ambitions for this project, as it will cover much more than the company’s history, it will also convey Norwegian history,” said Statoil’s head of corporate communication, Reidar Gjærum, in a company statement.

“It will help enhance knowledge, both in research institutions and in society at large,” said Professor Einar Lie.

An ambitious project and very worthwhile. But how is this wealth of information going to be collated, formatted, searchable and simple to update?
