DONG's Connie Appraisal Well Confirmed Oil

DONG, operator for the oil companies in license 16/98, has completed the well CA-3 (5604/20-10) in the Connie structure at the Cecilie field in the North Sea. The well was drilled with the jackup, ENSCO 70.

CA-3 was drilled from the Cecilie platform to the Connie oil deposit located northwest of the Cecilie. Production from Cecilie was started in august 2003. Both oil deposits are located in sandstone of Paleocene age at a depth of two kilometers plus. In April 2004 the Danish Energy Authority approved a plan for development of Connie as part of the Cecilie field.

Drilling of CA-3 was commenced on the 7th of April 2004. Initially two deviated well bores were drilled in order to appraise two different parts of the Connie deposit and in order to acquire further information, including cores. A horizontal sidetrack was then drilled in the northern part of the Connie deposit. Based on the acquired information it was decided to establish production from the well, which was subsequently completed with production equipment.

Production from CA-3 will start in the nearest future. The oil production from Cecilie inclusive Connie is transported to the Siri process platform through a connecting pipeline.

The 16/98 license group consists of the following companies:

Company Share
DENERCO Petroleum A/S 24 %
DONG Efterforskning og Produktion A/S 22 %

The ENSCO 70 rig will stay at the Cecilie platform in order to drill a water injector in the Cecilie structure.
