Keppel Singmarine Delivers Sophisticated AHTS Vessels

Keppel Singmarine has delivered two highly sophisticated Anchor Handling Tug/Supply (AHTS) vessels to Pacific Richfield Marine (PRM).

Both Pacific Silver and Pacific 28 were awarded to KSM in July 2002 and March 2003 respectively.

Pacific Silver has a bollard pull of 200 tons and 16,000 bhp. Classed under the American Bureau of Shipping as an ice-class towing and offshore support vessel, it is outfitted with fire fighting capabilities, and equipped with dynamic positioning capabilities that enable the vessel to remain in a fixed position whilst work is being carried out.

Pacific 28 is also classed under the American Bureau of Shipping as a towing and anchor-handling vessel. Similar to Pacific Silver, she is equipped with fire fighting and dynamic positioning capabilities.

With the delivery of the two vessels, KSM has to date completed a total of five AHTS for PRM. It is expected to deliver two more such vessels in the first quarter of 2005.

Mr. Charles Foo, Chairman of KSM said, "We are glad that Pacific Richfield Marine has chosen Keppel Singmarine as its choice yard.

"With our strengths in the design and building of AHTS, we are certain that Keppel Singmarine will be able to continue to build quality vessels that meet the specific needs of customers."

Said Mr. Rony Sudjaka, Managing Director of PRM, "We are proud that Pacific Silver is the largest AHTS to be commissioned by a Singapore-based operator. Keppel Singmarine was selected as our choice builder because of their reputation and expertise as a world class shipbuilder."

Both vessels were christened at the Singapore Cruise Centre on 26 June 2004 at a naming ceremony witnessed by over 120 guests from local and overseas.

Keppel Singmarine is the specialized shipbuilding arm of Keppel Offshore & Marine, a wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Corporation. Since the early 70s, Keppel Singmarine has designed and built more than 300 small to medium-sized vessels including AHTS, multi-purpose support vessels and cable ships for a worldwide clientele.

Pacific Richfield Marine is one of the largest Singapore-based operators with a young fleet of over 40 modern offshore support vessels.
