COSL Appoints Qi Meisheng as CEO and President, Replaces Li Yong

China Oilfield Services Ltd. (COSL) announced Wednesday the appointment of Qi Meisheng as CEO and president, replacing Li Yong who resigned from the positions the previous day.

Qi, 47, was the company's vice president from December 2013 to June 2016 and general manager of COSL Drilling from December 2013 to December 2015. Prior to these appointments, he had served in various positions in the firm, including CEO of its Norwegian-based subsidiary COSL Drilling Europe AS, since August 2000. Qi began his career in the oil and gas industry in July 1991, working for Nanhai West Oil Co. and China Offshore Oil Southern Drilling Co. until August 2000.

COSL's new CEO graduated from China University of Petroleum (East China) with a bachelor degree in drilling engineering.

Li Yong's resignation was due to adjustment of his "work arrangements ... (and) that he has no disagreement with the Board and there is no matter that need to be brought to the attention of the shareholders and creditors," COSL said in the press release.
