Pepperl+Fuchs, a company specializing in process automation for industries, including oil and gas, plans on bringing about 100 jobs to Katy, Texas, a city just west of Houston.
Pepperl+Fuchs, which just broke ground on the Katy facility June 2, currently operates two facilities in the Houston area – one for sales/support and one for custom engineered solutions. The company is consolidating its warehouse and production facilities currently located in Twinsburg, Ohio, according to David Hohenstein, business manager – process automation for Pepperl+Fuchs.
The jobs, which come as a result of the company’s decision to consolidate its operations in Katy, will come during a time when many area oil and gas jobs are being lost due to low oil prices that began in late 2014. Pepperl+Fuchs’ portfolio also includes business to companies outside of oil and gas.
“Our decision to invest in the area is based on an optimistic view of the local market as well as the future needs of our business throughout [the Americas] including Central and South America,” Hohenstein told Rigzone. “The Houston/Katy region is well positioned to support our labor requirements, delivery infrastructure and business expectations.”
The new Katy facility is scheduled to be open and completed in the summer of 2017.
