Amec FW Clinches KOC's FEED Contract to Upgrade OGC in Kuwait

Amec Foster Wheeler clinched a front end engineering design (FEED) contract from Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to upgrade its Oil Gathering Center GC-24 in Kuwait, the company said Thursday.

The upgrade will enhance GC-24 facility, increasing its daily capacity by 50,000 barrels of oil from the current 165,000 barrels, and the improvement is expected to cater for an anticipated high level of water in the mix of crude oil and gas.

KOC plans to increase oil production by as much as 1 million barrels per day by 2020 and to maintain this level for 10 years.

"Kuwait Oil Company is one of our key customers and this further strengthening of our working partnership follows our success in delivering projects for them and management of the original GC-24 Project which was completed six months ahead of schedule," Roberto Penno, Group president of Amec Foster Wheeler’s Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa and Southern Europe business said in the press release.

The latest project continues Amec Foster Wheeler’s work with KOC on major projects since 2004, including three new Gathering Centres and strategic pipeline projects in North Kuwait.
