Oilfield services firm JDR has been awarded a contract for intervention, workover and control systems (IWOCS) by Aker Solutions Subsea Division.
The project, which is scheduled for delivery in summer 2016, will see JDR provide two 3,937 foot umbilicals, which will be supplied on the company’s new Mark II Reeler technology. JDR has stated that the new reeler design is significantly smaller in size compared to conventional reelers, saving deck space and lowering costs.
JDR CEO David Currie commented in a company statement:
“JDR has collaborated with customers to create a custom engineered reeler design that provides a number of operational benefits. In addition, the new design provides easier access to control panels within the reeler, enabling safer operations offshore. We are delighted to partner with Aker Solutions on this project.”
The umbilicals will be manufactured at JDR’s facility in Littleport, UK, while the reelers will be designed and manufactured at JDR’s site in Newcastle, UK before delivery to JDR’s Littleport facility for in-house integration and testing.
