SOCO: Congo Baobab Marine-1 Well Comes up Dry
Oil and gas exploration and production company SOCO International plc announced Friday that the Baobab Marine-1 commitment well has come up dry.
Drilled to a measured depth of 10,744 feet in the Mer Profonde Sud Block, located in the Lower Congo Basin offshore the Republic of Congo, the well encountered no hydrocarbons, although “good quality” sands were present. The well will now be plugged and abandoned.
Barring any complications with plugging and abandonment operations, SOCO expects the well to come in under budget and with no lost time accidents.
