Sound Brings Nervesa Online

Mediterranean focused upstream gas company Sound Energy announced Thursday that it has achieved first commercial production at the operated onshore Nervesa gas discovery, located in northeast Italy.

The news follows the Italian Ministry of Economic Development’s decision to award the company a production concession for the project, back in July 2015. Spud in the second quarter of 2013, first commercial gas at the discovery was originally anticipated at the end of last year. Nervesa is a 21 billion standard cubic feet field discovered by ENI in 1985. Sound Oil spud a second well at Nervesa on April 23, 2015, although the company decided to abandon it after it was unable to secure a stabilized flow rate.

A further announcement confirming production rates will be made after the initial clean-up phase is completed and the stable flow rate has been assessed, according to a Sound Energy statement.

James Parsons, Sound’s chief executive, commented in a company statement:

"First gas at Nervesa is a landmark event for the company, providing energy to a robust domestic market and further underpinning our broader Mediterranean expansion."
