Carnarvon Petroleum Limited (Carnarvon) provided Wednesday the following update on drilling operations as advised by the operator of the Roc-1 well in permit WA-437-P offshore Western Australia, Quadrant Energy.
Since the last report the 12.25 inch (311 millimeter) intermediate hole has been drilled down to 11,171 feet (3,405 meters) which completes this section of the well.
As at 06:00 hours Dec. 9, the well was in the process of setting the 9.625 inch (244 millimeter) casing.
It is expected to take up to one week to set and cement the 9.325 inch (244 millimeter) casing after which the well will drill the 8.5 inch (216 millimeter) reservoir section, equivalent to where the oil was discovered in the Phoenix South-1 well.
The Roc-1 well is located in WA-437-P, approximately 12 miles (20 kilometers) south-east of the 2014 Phoenix South-1 oil discovery, and around 93 miles (150 kilometers) north of Port Hedland.
