Quadrant Energy Continues Drilling at Roc-1 Well Offshore Western Australia

Carnarvon Petroleum Limited (Carnarvon) provided Wednesday the following update on drilling operations as advised by the operator of the Roc-1 well in permit WA-437-P offshore Western Australia, Quadrant Energy.

Progress

Since the last report the 17.5 inch (445 millimeter) hole has been drilled down to 4,400 feet (1,341 meters) and 13.375 inch (340 millimeter) casing has been set and cemented to this point.

Current Operations

As at 06:00 hours Dec. 2 the well was drilling ahead in the 12.25 inch (311 millimeter) intermediate hole section at a depth of 4,675 feet (1,425 meters).

Forward Plan

The well will drill the 12.25 inch (311 millimeter) hole to a depth of around 11,483 feet (3,500 meters) and then set and cement 9.625 inch (244 millimeter) casing. Following that the well will drill ahead in the 8.5 inch (216 millimeter) reservoir section equivalent to where the oil was discovered in the Phoenix South-1 well.

Location

The Roc-1 well is located in WA-437-P, approximately 12.4 miles (20 kilometers) south-east of the 2014 Phoenix South-1 oil discovery, and around 93.2 miles (150 kilometers) north of Port Hedland.

The equity interest holders (upon satisfaction of the farm in agreement terms) in WA-437-P are:

  • Carnarvon Petroleum - 20 percent
  • Quadrant Energy (Operator) - 40 percent
  • JX Nippon - 20 percent
  • Finder Exploration - 20 percent
