Nighthawk Energy: No Commercial Finds at Northstar 1-14 Well

Nighthawk Energy plc, the US focused oil development and production company, announced Thursday that the Northstar 1-14 well is being plugged and abandoned after failing to encounter a commercial find.

Spud November 12, the well was drilled to a total depth of 8,900 feet. Following drilling operations, it was determined that there were “no zones in the well that would warrant the running of production casing and initiating a completion”, according to Nighthawk. As a result, the well will now be plugged and abandoned.

The latest development follows Nighthawk’s announcement earlier this month that the Happy Jack 7-10 well would be be plugged and abandoned for the same reason. No further drilling is planned for Nighthawk in 2015.
