TGS announced Monday that it is currently carrying out the broadband reprocessing of 14,196 miles of 2D seismic data offshore Portugal.
The new program is “supported by industry funding”, according to TGS, although no specific source has been identified. Once complete, data from the reprocessing project is expected to provide “critical geoscience information” for exploration and production companies focusing on the offshore Portuguese shelf.
Stein Ove Isaksen, senior vice president of the eastern hemisphere, commented in a company statement:
"Recent successes in the conjugate offshore Newfoundland and Nova Scotia provinces of Canada have heightened expectations for similar petroleum systems offshore Portugal. TGS' reprocessing program is expected to provide critical geoscience information to exploration and production companies as they move to the next phase of exploration along this portion of the Atlantic Margin".
