The Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) and the University of Texas (UT) at Austin have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to further and reinforce their cooperation in the field of geotechnical engineering.
The two organizations decided to establish an MoU to establish a framework for the cooperation in joint investigations, international projects, scientific exchanges, the training of geotechnical engineering field workers and areas of mutual interest. The current MoU and future MoUs between the groups are intended to fill the gap between industry and academics, Alireza Mirdamadi, geotechnical engineer with NGI, told Rigzone.

The MoU is the first one between NGI and UT-Austin, and will be in effect for a five-year period. Cooperation under the MoU is subject to and dependent upon the availability of funds and resources from each participant, said Mirdamadi.
