Oilex Progresses Cambay Workover Campaign

Oilex Ltd announced Tuesday that it has successfully completed a workover on the Cambay-19z well, located on the Cambay field in Gujarat State, India.

Currently 240 barrels of workover brine is being pumped from the well at a rate of 40 barrels per day, after which oil production should commence, according to the company. Adjustments to the pumping rate will be made to optimize the oil production after recovery of the workover brine. Oilex also announced that the Cambay-20 workover project commenced Nov 5 after the completion of the rig move from Cambay-19z. The Cambay-20 workover will recover, inspect, clean and replace as necessary, production tubing. In addition, installation of a downhole pump is expected to improve oil production at this well.

Oilex expects workover activities at Cambay 77-H to commence after the Cambay-20 workover project is completed. Other potential workover candidates identified by the company include Cambay-70, a gas and oil producer from the Eocene/MBS formation, Cambay-60, which has never been put into production, and Cambay-15, a former gas producer from the OSII formation that may still be capable of servicing the low pressure market.

Oilex Managing Director, Ron Miller, commented in a company statement:

“The Cambay workover campaign continues with the successful completion of activities at Cambay-19z. The pumping performance to date indicates good well deliverability. We remain vigilant on costs while focusing on increasing cashflow from production. We are excited to build up momentum through the workover campaign and capture the commercial benefit of lower contractor service prices currently prevalent in the market.”
