The UK energy industry gathered in Aberdeen Thursday night to celebrate a range of company and individual achievements at the annual Oil & Gas UK Awards 2015.

Over 600 people attended the event, which saw the introduction of a new MER UK award which recognized companies whose cooperative approach and positive behaviours helped to maximize the economic recovery of oil and gas from the UK Continental Shelf.

The new award recognized several companies on the night for pioneering successful new ways of working that can be shared and adopted across the industry, including Nexen Petroleum UK Ltd, The Northern North Sea Operational Gas Group (comprising TAQA, CNR International U.K. Ltd, EnQuest, Dana Petroleum, Fairfield Energy, BP, Shell UK and Esso), Centrica, Total E&P UK and DONG Energy.

ActivityMix picked up the SME Investment in People award for its ‘Great Place to Work’ program and Amec Foster Wheeler received the Large Enterprise Investment in people award for encouraging training and development, career progression and the chance to work in different locations around the world. SeaEnergy PLC won the SME Business Innovation award, impressing judges with its ‘high definition 360 spherical photography’, which allows operators to work with virtual representations of operating facilities from their desktop, helping users carry out detailed inspections of their offshore operations remotely.

The Large Enterprise Business Innovation award went to Nexen Petroleum UK Ltd for combining the technology to measure the condition of internal components within oil wells with predictive technology, enabling the modelling of highly accurate ‘virtual’ well interventions, ultimately reducing the time required to return a well to production.
