Three Songa Rigs Achieve 100% Usage during October

Rig operator Songa Offshore reported Wednesday that three of its rigs achieved operational efficiencies of 100 percent during October.

Songa Dee (mid-water semisub), Songa Delta (mid-water semisub) and Songa Trym (mid-water semisub) all achieved 100-percent operational efficiency and an earnings efficiency of 98 percent working for Statoil offshore Norway.

However, Songa Offshore also said that it has received notice of a cancellation of the drilling contract for Songa Trym after the well it is currently working on in the North Sea, Tarvos, is completed in mid-November. The rig will be stacked while marketed for new employment.

Songa Offshore took delivery of the Songa Equinox (mid-water semisub) rig at the end of June. The firm said that it arrived in Norwegian waters on October 22 and it is currently preparing for compliance and client acceptance tests. Meanwhile, the Songa Endurance (mid-water semisub) is en route from Korea to Norway.
