Roxi Petroleum to Drill at least 3 more Wells in Kazakhstan

Roxi Petroleum announced Tuesday that it will drill at least three additional wells in the Kazakhstan BNG asset within the next 12 months.

The first of these wells, named Deep Well A6, is expected to spud “in the next few days”, according to Roxi. Located around 4,000 feet from Deep Well A5, the new well will take four months to reach its planned total depth of around 16,000 feet. Deep Well A6 will cost $8.5 million and will use the same rig and contractor that drilled Deep Well A5.

Roxi plans to drill a minimum of two further deep wells in the region in the next 12 months, although the timing and location of these wells is dependent on the findings from existing Deep Wells A5 and 801, both of which are awaiting unrestricted flow tests.

Clive Carver, Roxi Petroleum chairman, commented in a company statement:

“The excess drilling fluids used during the drilling of both Deep Wells A5 and 801 are taking longer to remove than expected. It will only be once they are cleared away that meaningful unrestricted flow tests can be conducted.”
