Total E&P RDC Granted 2 Year License Extension for Block III

The Ministry of Hydrocarbons of the Democratic Republic of Congo has granted Total E&P RDC, along with its joint venture partners, a two year extension for the country’s Block III license.

With this extension, the current exploration period of Block III has been prolonged to Jan 26, 2018, from Jan 27, 2016. To date, the joint venture partners have successfully completed the acquisition and processing of a gravity and magnetic survey on the northern part of the Block III area, outside the Virunga National Park.

Total E&P RDC is the operator of Block III with a 66.7 percent interest. The DRC Government holds a 15 percent interest and SacOil holds the remaining 12.5 percent interest.
