MOL, Mari Petroleum Hit Oil, Gas in Pakistan
MOL Group announced Friday that a new crude oil, condensate and natural gas discovery has been made in the Karak Block, located in Pakistan.
The group revealed that the Kalabagh-1A ST1 well, which was spud on March 20, 2015, flowed gas and condensate from its Datta Formation and Samanasuk Formation, and a commercial quantity of crude oil at its Lockhart Formation. This discovery is the joint venture’s second success in the Karak block after its first crude oil discovery made at the Halini-1 Exploratory Well-1 in 2011.
Akos Grosz, CFA, managing director of MOL Pakistan, commented in a company statement:
“MOL is committed to help alleviate the energy deficits of Pakistan by maximizing exploration and enhancing current production through cutting-edge technologies”.
The Karak Block is operated by Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL), which holds a 60 percent working interest. MOL Pakistan Oil & Gas Co. B.V has 40 percent interest in the block.
