Ultra Deep Group Signs Contract to Build Multipurpose DSCV
Ultra Deep Group (UDS) has secured a contract with China Merchants Heavy Industry to build an Ultra Deep Installer Multipurpose Diving Support Construction Vessel.
The 24-man vessel is a 465 foot, multipurpose subsea diving support ship designed for use in deep and ultra-deep oil and gas industry projects, which is due to be delivered in the first quarter of 2018. UDS’ new vessel will be equipped with a 16,145 square foot open deck space and a 400 ton crane, which will have a depth capability of 17,060 feet.
Shel Hutton, chief executive officer of UDS, commented in a company statement:
“We are thrilled with this contract and it affirms our company is heading in the right direction to build quality and size-appropriate vessels catered for the future market. The current slowdown in the market allows us time to ensure our designs are optimized and customized for relevance in the oil and gas industry. I am thankful to our partners, and supporters, especially MT, DNV, FTE, ABB, Huisman, Rolls-Royce, Wartsila and CMHI, who have supported the company's vision, and realizing our plans to build these vessels. We are one step closer to towards our vision.”
