Det Norske Completes Ivar Aasen Delineation

Det norske oljeselskap has completed the drilling of appraisal wells 16/1-22S, 16/1-22A and 16/1-22B on the Ivar Aasen field in the central North Sea, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate reported Thursday.

The NPD said that none of the wells were formation tested but that comprehensive data collection and sampling was carried out.

Gas was not encountered in the wells, but the NPD added that the results have yielded valuable information regarding the final location of production and water-injection wells.

Proven in 2008, Ivar Aasen has been estimated to contain 151 million barrels of oil and 159 billion cubic feet of natural gas.
