Atlas Knowledge has been awarded a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract by INPEX to provide training for production workers involved in the $34 billion Ichthys LNG Project, located offshore Western Australia.
The agreement will see Atlas develop and deliver custom-made training modules and online 3D models of the project’s onshore and offshore production facilities. Atlas’ training equipment will provide all personnel in the operations team with an understanding of the plant, equipment, materials and their associated hazards, according to the company.
Atlas Knowledge Chairman Robert Morgan commented in a company statement:
“This is a major project which has seen us work closely with INPEX over a significant period of time to design facility specific training modules to meet the demands expected of their workforce ahead of production starting on the Ichthys LNG Project.
“Selected from a highly competitive worldwide list of suppliers, this deal represents a new partnership between ourselves and INPEX who recognise as we do that exemplar training and a competent workforce is crucial to preparation and progress of large scale offshore projects. The training programmes we are designing will provide the learning and preparation needed for staff to work efficiently and safely from the start of production through the lifecycle of the field.”
Ichthys represents the largest discovery of hydrocarbon liquids in Australia in 40 years, according to INPEX. The project is located approximately 136 miles offshore Western Australia and utilises a 550 mile pipeline.
