CNOOC Appoints Yang Hua as Chairman, Succeeds Wang Yilin
China National Offshore Oil Corp. Ltd. (CNOOC) appointed Yang Hua as chairman of the Board of Directors to succeed Wang Yilin, the Chinese company announced Tuesday.
Prior to his appointment, Yang, who joined CNOOC in 1982, was vice chairman of the Board of Directors from Sept. 16, 2010 to May 19, 2015 and president of the company from August 2011 to April 2015. Earlier, Yang -- who has over three decades of experience in petroleum exploration and production -- served as senior vice president, chief financial officer, executive vice president, president and CEO in CNOOC between 1999 to 2011.
The incoming CNOOC chairman was also active in "international business, M&A (mergers and acquisitions), corporate finance and capital market operations in the Company and its subsidiaries," CNOOC said in the press release.
Yang, aged 54, graduated from China University of Petroleum with a petroleum engineering degree and received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
