Neil McCleary, Operations PUL, BP Azerbaijan, made the award at reception held by KCA DEUTAG. Special Representative of the British Prime Minister, Brian Wilson and representatives from BP, the British Government, the Azerbaijani Government, the Azerbaijani State Oil Academy, SOCAR and other companies and organizations attended the event.
"KCA DEUTAG is currently recruiting a large number of Azerbaijani nationals and the Scholarship Program is the company's foundation stone for recruiting and training high quality, motivated graduates who will in time assume senior positions in Azerbaijan within our engineering and operations groups. We are also particularly pleased to have awarded our first scholarship to a female student" commented Brian Taylor, MD of KCA DEUTAG Drilling Ltd.
This is the seventh award of the annual KCA DEUTAG Scholarship Program, which includes a monthly allowance to assist the students to complete their studies and English language training. Upon successful completion of the Program, students will visit KCA DEUTAG offices in Aberdeen to familiarize themselves with KCA DEUTAG's drilling operations and other Scottish oilfield companies. Three of the 2003/2004 KCA DEUTAG Scholarship students have recently returned from a trip to Aberdeen where they visited KCA DEUTAG facilities, several oilfield manufacturers and service companies and obtained the necessary information to assist them in completing their degree theses.
