The organizer of the ONS Norway exhibition and conference has cancelled this year's edition of the show due to the market uncertainty that has arisen because of lower oil prices.
In a statement on the exhibition's Web site Tuesday, the ONS Foundation said that it had had to cancel ONS Norway – which was to be held in Stavanger, Norway between August 17 and 19 – because too few exhibitors had registered amid "low oil prices, low activity and great uncertainty in the industry".
The ONS Foundation said that exhibitor registration had been good until early in the year and that there had also been a number of recent cancellations by companies that are struggling.
"Too few exhibitors means that we cannot create a meeting place with the famous ONS quality that exhibitors expect and deserve. We must take the consequences," ONS CEO Leif Johan Sevland said.
However, Sevland added that there had been no lack of interest currently in the 2016 show. Meanwhile, the ONS Foundation said that it had offered exhibitors who had been due to exhibit at ONS 2015 space at the 2016 exhibition.
