MEO Australia Appoints Peter Stickland as MD/CEO, Succeeds Jurgen Hendrich

MEO Australia Ltd., an Australian independent oil and gas firm, announced Wednesday that new's CEO Peter Stickland will be appointed to the company's Board and assume the role of managing director and CEO effective Jan. 30, the firm said in a press release Monday.

Stickland was MEO's exploration manager before his appointment as CEO on Dec. 19 to succeed Jurgen Hendrich, who had been the company's managing director and CEO since July 2008.

Stickland was previously the CEO of Tap Oil Ltd., another Australian oil and gas firm, from 2008 to late 2010 during which time he oversaw the evolution of the firm into a Southeast Asia/Australia-focused exploration and production company.

The new MEO CEO, who has over 24 year's global experience in oil and gas exploration, also worked for BHP Billiton, holding a range of technical and management roles.
