Ithaca Appoints New COO

North Sea-focused independent oil firm Ithaca Energy announced Tuesday that it has appointed Roy Buchan as its new chief operations officer.

In a statement, Ithaca noted that Buchan has more than 30 years of operational experience in the oil and gas industry, having worked for Royal Dutch Shell, BG Group and Talisman Sinopec Energy UK. At BG he was group head of operations, while he served most recently as technical and production director for Talisman Sinopec.

Ithaca also announced that its current chief development officer, John Woods, will leave the company at the end of January.

Ithaca CEO Les Thomas commented:

"We are delighted to welcome Roy to head up the company's operations organization. He brings a wealth of industry experience and a deep understanding of North Sea operations that will be invaluable as the company prepares for the commencement of production from the Stella development. We would also like to sincerely thank John for his contribution to the company over the years and wish him well in the future."
