PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) announced Monday the load-out and delivery of the Heera Redevelopment (HRD) Process Platform in a ceremony Nov. 29 at its fabrication yard in Vung Tau City, Vietnam.
The fabrication contract was awarded to PTSC Mechanical & Construction Co. Ltd. (PTSC M&C) – a subsidiary of PTSC by AFCONS Infrastructure in April 2013, with the workscope for the HRD Process Platform covering procurement of bulk items and fabrication of topsides weighing approximately 8,400 tons.
AFCONS Infrastructure led a consortium comprising France's Technip and Malaysia's THHE to clinch the HRD project.
The HRD Process Platform project is part of the development activities of India's state-owned Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) in the Heera field located 43.5 miles (70 kilometers) south-west of Mumbai city and 87 miles (140 kilometers) south-east of Mumbai High in average water depth of 164 feet (50 meters).
"HRD has been proved to be a technically challenging project with schedule constraint and stringent construction requirements...In order to preserve the quality and schedule of the Project, PTSC M&C has utilized its existing fabrication yard, taken advantages of advanced technology, as well as mobilized an experienced and competent resource of workers and engineers to diligently execute the Project," PTSC M&C said in a press release.
“I am happy that our first venture with Vietnamese company PTSC M&C has gone off very successfully in terms of maintaining schedule and quality completion of the project," K. Subrahmanian, AFCONS’s vice president added in the statement.
Earlier this year, PTSC M&C inked a $130 million engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contract for a platform for the Maharaja Lela South (MLS) project offshore Brunei.
The contractor also secured an engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract from the Cuu Long Joint Operating Company for the Su Tu Vang South West Project in Block 15.1 offshore Vietnam in June.
